BEHIND THE CANDELABRA TRAILER RELEASED

Five days after this is premiered at the Cannes Film Festival (next Tuesday, btw), Behind the Candelabra will be released on US TV on HBO. This will make it ineligible for American awards consideration, at least outside of the TV awards organisation, but who cares about them?!

  1. Looks great. Soderbergh's apparent last feature. Emmy bells ringing.

You must have seen Ari Folman's Waltz with Bashir. It was truly one of the great documentaries of the last decade. Was instantly fascinated by the Folman's visual animation and the political detail with such emotional resonance.

Well, his next film Congress, loosely based on the novel The Futurological Congress by speculative fiction author Stanislaw Lem, serves as the opening night film for the Directors' Fortnight selection at Cannes. Movie's first trailer looks equally great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=1Gv3zSqBBfg

And let me know if am over-stepping my foot in commenting about these things. Have this innate ability to piss people off.

    1. Over-stepping?! My humble-ass blog? You're basically the main contributor! I love it!

Also, how the fuck was I not aware of this film until now? WOW!

  2. Few first look pictures were released online a week or two back when the movie actually caught my attention. With Cannes Film Festival nearing, expect the onslaught of more trailers, new images and deals to continue.

Just can't wait to hear great things about Congress and the most anticipated Refn's Only God Forgives.

This year's Cannes Film Festival is going to be bigger than usual years with all the big names involved. Coens, Soderbergh, Polanski, Farhadi, Payne, Refn, Gray, Miike, Palme d'Or isn't going to be an easy choice for Speilberg and Co. Fruitvale Station and Bling Ring in Un Certain Regard section, Chandor's follow up to brilliant debut Margin Call, All is Lost, and many more, the interest and excitement level in following the festival has doubled this time around.
