FIRST CLIP FROM ALEXANDER PAYNE'S NEBRASKA

Next Thursday, Cannes will get a look at Alexander Payne's follow-up to his Oscar-winning The Descendants. Nebraska is the first film which he has not had a hand in writing, and it's his first from an original screenplay too. It's also his first in black-and-white, but why not, it does look nice. Oscar for Bruce Dern anyone? Well, Payne's films do have a habit of missing out on one major nomination, usually for an actor (Reese Witherspoon in Election, Paul Giamatti in Sideways, Shailene Woodley in The Descendants) so maybe not... Glad to see his signature sense of humour is not lost despite the change of writer.
