Production on Universal's fourth entry in their lucrative franchise, which was to be directed by Safety Not Guaranteed's Colin Trevorrow from a screenplay by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, who wrote Rise of the Planet of the Apes, has been put on hold. It's currently unclear regarding what exactly is meant by this - the release date of next June (2014) was extremely optimistic, and the statement from Universal seems positive enough, but news such as this isn't normally a good thing. It's quite the cash cow for Universal, anyway, so I imagine this film will happen one way or another, even if it has been bloody ages since JP3 was in theatres. One way or another, though, I can confirm that I couldn't give a shit.
