After the critical success of his last three films and the box office success of Mud, Warner Bros. has snatched up Jeff Nichols to make a sci-fi film about an eight-year-old boy with supernatural powers and his father, who go on the run from their enemies. Michael Shannon (probably one of those enemies) and Joel Edgerton (probably the dad) were already announced as cast members, and now Kirsten Dunst has been confirmed to star too, because what is a Jeff Nichols picture without a pretty lady hovering in the background somewhere, sometimes, never truly getting involved? Don't ask me why they're naming it Midnight Special.
