PHOENIX FILM CRITICS SOCIETY NOMINATIONS LEAVE AN OSCAR-Y AFTERTASTE

The Phoenix Film Critics Society insists on handing out a whole load of awards after a whole load of nominations in a whole load of categories. Even when they haven't seen a whole load of films. Not The Wolf of Wall Street, at least. Oblivion, Star Trek Into Darkness and Jack the Giant Slayer (lol) get more nominations than Martin Scorsese's latest film. August: Osage County and Saving Mr. Banks particularly get a fair few mentions between them, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Jordan Vogt-Roberts are apparently among the year's best breakthrough filmmakers. Fuck off. At least the outstanding Annika Wedderkopp is nominated for her marvellous performance in The Hunt. I'll post details of their winners when they're announced in a week's time, on Tuesday the 17th of December. P.S. Their Foreign Language Film selections are brilliant.
