Every year, the WGA announces that most of the best screenplays of that year are ineligible for its annual awards. Unlike many other institutions, they're not terribly keen on giving their awards to non-members. Among films which won't contend for their Original Screenplay award: Ain't Them Bodies Saints, Fruitvale Station, In a World..., The Past, Rush and Short Term 12. The already very limited Adapted Screenplay category suffers even more, with ineligibilities including 12 Years a Slave, Blue Is the Warmest Colour, Frozen, Monsters University and Philomena. Ponder for yourselves which films will fill the WGA's five slots in each of those categories, but not too long, because I don't want you to get depressed.
