The BAFTA Rising Star nominees have been announced, ahead of the full lineup of BAFTA nominations, due early on Wednesday. Hard to argue with most of these, since we have a bona fide newcomer (Nyong'o), a true breakthrough (Poulter), a new face (MacKay), an actor who has experienced his best year yet in a burgeoning career (DeHaan) and, um, Lea Seydoux, who has been in film for years. Oh well, she had Blue Is the Warmest Colour this year, which was her best work yet and which generated more publicity for the French actress than any of her previous projects (though she was just as good, if not better, in Ursula Meier's Sister last year).
