MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY JOINS GUS VAN SANT'S SEA OF TREES

Chris Sparling, who wrote low-budget thriller Buried with Ryan Reynolds, has written the script for an upcoming Gus van Sant project, Sea of Trees. It'll star Ken Watanabe as a man who meets a suicidal American in the forest at the foot of Mount Fuji. And Matthew McConaughey, possibly just over three weeks away from becoming 'Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey', has joined the cast as said suicidal American. It sounds like an interesting film, and I hope that McConaughey's presence doesn't indicate that van Sant is aiming for a more commercial tone, a la Promised Land.
