Is this the most concrete admission yet that Fox are divorcing themselves from the disliked X-Men movies with this new burst of energy in the franchise, no doubt inspired by the recent surge in popularity for superhero team-up movies? After Taylor Kitsch played the fan favourite role of Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009, a performance that wasn't well-liked and a film that wasn't well-liked, they've cast another actor entirely to play Gambit. That'll be for X-Men: Apocalypse, then, surely not the upcoming Wolverine solo movie. Tatum's addition to the cast ought to help the franchise out with audiences, as well as what looks to be a potentially healthy response to next weekend's X-Men: Days of Future Past.
