LOZNITSA'S MAIDAN DOC DOES DECENTLY WITH CANNES CRITICS


One of the most urgent stories being told at Cannes 2014, Sergei Loznitsa's Maidan, about the Maidan Square protests in Kiev last November, is drawing some smart responses from critics at the festival. Not all are entirely sold on Loznitsa's artistry, but all seem thoroughly convinced by the immediacy of the tale he tells.
