SAINT LAURENT: BONELLO BIOPIC FARES FINE AT CANNES

Bertrand Bonello is the sort of director who can withstand middling reactions to his films at Cannes, though you may recall how House of Tolerance was unfairly shafted three years ago. His Saint Laurent biopic, the second of the year, is attracting praise for Bonello's artistic approach, but far from the rave reviews some had been hoping for. Critics do seem, on the whole, to prefer it to Jalil Lespert's reportedly (I never saw it) average affair. I've collated reviews from Guy Lodge in Variety, Peter Bradshaw in The Guardian, Boyd van Hoeij in The Hollywood Reporter, John Bleasdale in Cine-Vue and Nikola Grozdanovic in The Playlist.
