We already knew that NYFF 2014 would kick off on the 26th of September with the world premiere of David Fincher's Gone Girl; now we know which films will serve as the fest's centrepiece and its closing film. On the 4th of October, Paul Thomas Anderson's Inherent Vice will receive its world premiere as NYFF's official centrepiece gala, while Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's Birdman, already set to open Venice 2014 next month, will close the festival on the 12th of October. That ought to be the film's North American premiere. Inherent Vice opens in the US on the 12th of December and in the UK on the 9th of January; Birdman in the US on the 17th of October and in the UK on the 2nd of January.
