John Ridley only capitalised on the mild promise he showed in the late '90s (and was reportedly cheated out of shortly thereafter) last year, winning an Oscar for 12 Years a Slave and showing his first film as director in 16 years, All Is By My Side, at TIFF, where it met decent responses from critics. The film is a Jimi Hendrix portrait, with OutKast's Andre Benjamin as the famous rock star. It's out in the UK and Ireland on the 8th of August.
