Oh you know I am dying to see this. Lav Diaz is proof that it's possible not only to be extremely prolific as a filmmaker and turn out consistently high-quality work, he's proof that it's possible to turn out work of all-time classic status, and at durations many times the lengths of most similarly busy directors' (Michael Winterbottom, Miike Takashi, Woody Allen, Amos Gitai, the lot of you!) works. Here's the trailer for his latest, From What Is Before, which is already earning rave reviews from critics at Locarno, where it's screening in the official competition, over which Sacro GRA's Gianfranco Rosi presides.
