Critics opine that Gabe Polsky's Red Army uses historical hindsight to tell a seemingly ordinary story in a manner that highlights its extraordinariness, and that the film is far from ordinary itself. One of the big festival hits of the year, including screenings at Cannes, Telluride, Toronto and the Hamptons, the film is finally released in the US on the 14th of November; don't get too excited, though, British readers - it's not out here until the 19th of June next year!
