58 documentary shorts have been reduced to eight for the 2014 Oscar race, as AMPAS' doc branch begins their process of deciding the year's best. That's all! Oscar nominations are revealed on the 15th of January. The eight films that have progressed to the next stage of voting are:
- Crisis Hotline: Veterans Press 1 (Ellen Goosenberg Kent)
- Joanna (Aneta Kopacz)
- Kehinde Wiley: An Economy of Grace (Jeff Dupre)
- The Lion's Mouth Opens (Lucy Walker)
- One Child (Mu Zi Jian)
- Our Curse (Tomasz Sliwinski)
- The Reaper (Gabriel Serra)
- White Earth (Christian Jensen)
