CANNES REPORT - WEERASETHAKUL'S CEMETERY OF SPLENDOUR

Another year at Cannes, another head-scratcher from Thierry Fremaux: how / why on earth half of the main competition is even competing for the Palme d'Or when former Palme winner Apichatpong Weeraethakul is resigned to Un Certain Regard with a film that's receiving raves! Cemetery of Splendour is drawing in some of the most consistent, and consistently positive, reviews of the festival yet. Hopefully Isabella Rossellini's jury will realise the mistakes that seem to have been made, and will set about to correct them in award-winning style!
