After a lengthy and exhaustive festival tour that's still ongoing, Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet will finally arrive in US theatres this summer. Only its second worldwide theatrical opening after Kuwait last month, the animation reaches America on the 7th of August. It'll be interesting to see how the film fares with US audiences - it's being distributed by GKIDS, which doesn't mean it's a surefire hit or miss. With Roger Allers at the helm and directors like Tomm Moore, Nina Paley, Bill Plympton and Joann Sfar assisting in animating the poetry segments, it ought to be an interesting film to watch as well as to watch roll out.
