FLORIDA FILM CRITICS CIRCLE ANNOUNCE

                Emmanuel Lubezki (The Tree of Life)
Best Art Direction / Production Design
                Dante Ferretti and Francesca Lo Schiavo (Hugo)
Best Visual Effects
                Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Not sure when these announced, but it's at least been in the last few days. Another minor critics group, so their choices may not have much effect on the race, and anyway, these are rather conventional choices, given to films and people with enough buzz around them as it is. All the same, we continue to see the critics support Albert Brooks, despite his SAG snub, and indeed, Michael Fassbender and Shailene Woodley, neither of whom received SAG nominations last week. Also, this is (interestingly) the first win for The Artist in Original Screenplay - surprising for the fact that it hasn't won Best Picture here as well. And, of course, another win for Emmanuel Lubezki. It just wouldn't be right without one, would it?
