The Las Vegas Film Critics Society have (predictably?) opted to honour the most theatrical spectacle on the big screen of the season. The Artist has, pretty much, cleaned up here. There are few categories in which it poses a threat at the Oscars which it has failed to snap up here. Best Picture, Actor (its first, surprisingly), Production Design, Costume Design, Score. It's a formidable combination. Although The Artist hasn't got LAFCA or NBR under its belt, it has the majority of smaller critics' groups' support.

Other than that, Melissa McCarthy picks up another important award, Michelle Williams continues to pose a major threat, and both Drive and Moneyball make strong showings too.
