Not a lot of love for Les Miserables from Detroit; instead, Silver Linings Playbook leads with six nominations, and Take This Waltz proves itself to be a stronger contender than many had expected. The Perks of Being a Wallflower has been performing very well recently too, and it's sure to appear on prediction lists from here on out. Good news for The Impossible, another little disappointment for Lincoln, and Denzel Washington can't catch a break with the critics' groups this year! Winners will blow up the internet big style on Friday.
Well, Paddy, Detroit IS famous for the auto industry at least, no? Ha!
ReplyDeleteI saw TAKE THIS WALTZ at Tribeca, and while it was passable, I can't see elevating it into this sphere. Williams in this instance is not an acceptable choice, though granted everyone is entitled to their opinion. I see no real love here for LINCOLN and LE MIS, but that won't be any kind of majority statement. No love for foreign-language cinema either from this obvious mainstream group. THE IMPOSSIBLE is getting some strong reviews, but a number of scathing ones as well. We'll see soon enough.

Ed Gonzalez hated The Impossible. He also hated United 93 and slated Shame. He's Rex Reed-bad to me.
