Did you ever catch the Oscar-nominated animated short from 2007, Madame Tutli-Putli? If you did, you'll likely be familiar with Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski's work. They'll be directing Hugo co-stars Asa Butterfield and Chloe Moretz, alongside Andrea Riseborough and The White Ribbon's Christian Friedel in Circus, a dark fairytale adventure / romance which will be executive produced by none other than Terry Gilliam, a decent match for the material, you'll surely agree.
