CLIP FROM BEFORE MIDNIGHT

Another clip from Richard Linklater's widely praised follow up to Before Sunrise and Before Sunset, which received an Oscar nomination for its screenplay. The problem with all the material I've yet seen from this (it gets a UK release in June, US later this month) is that the vibe doesn't seem to have changed much, except it feels a little more forced. I don't buy that these people have been together for the past decade or so. They come across as actors pretending to know another, which is, of course, what they actually are. These aren't the conversations you just have in a moment, these fundamental issues being raised and resolved in an instant, when you've had years to get to know these things about one another? Sure, another chance meeting would have been stoopid, so then maybe they ought to have just left it in Paris.

  1. I stood clear of this film at Tribeca, opting to see more interesting docs and indes.

Am I the only person in the world who hated the past two installments in this tedious franchise?

    1. Yes. Alas.

More interesting docs and indies which likely you may get very few other opportunities to see. Before Midnight will be widely available in theatres then on DVD. Wise decision.
