DAVID MAMET'S BLACKBIRD GETS A LEAD - CATE BLANCHETT

David Mamet's next production, as writer and director, will be Blackbird, which Variety describes as a 'present-day Hitchcockian nailbiter turning on a secret explanation for the 1963 assassination of U.S. president John F. Kennedy'. And its leading role, a woman whose recently deceased father's secrets come to pose a threat to her safety, will be occupied by none other than Queen Cate the Great! Were Hitchcock alive today, you can bet he'd have cast Cate in one of his best female roles.
