SEQUEL TO CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON GREENLIT

Gosh, I know. Sometimes it's better to just leave a good thing alone. but it's the Weinsteins, and those brothers know how to make a buck or two. Michelle Yeoh will be involved - you know, that's always a good thing, but greenlighting a sequel to a film thirteen years after its release, without either the original director or studio on board is never going to get me excited. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, along with being one of the finest films of the last decade, was, for me, one of those great examples of a film which could have received a sequel, but never did, and is a better film for it. Here's to hoping that Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon II - The Green Destiny (that's the name of the sword in the first one, you may remember) is half as good. Yuen Wo Ping will direct and also choreograph the fight scenes, and Donnie Yen will star alongside Yeoh. It will be based on 'Iron Knight, Silver Vase', which isn't quite as catchy a title as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and is the fifth book in the 'Crane-Iron Pentalogy', which also provided the source for Ang Lee's 2000 film.
