PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5 DELAYED TO 2016

I previously wrote a post revealing that Kon-Tiki directors Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg would direct Pirates of the Caribbean 5, which is to be titled Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. It seems that On Stranger Tides made enough money worldwide to justify another film, in what was initially proposed as a new trilogy for the franchise, but poor reviews and underwhelming domestic grosses haven't helped keep the ship afloat. But, with the script still in early stages, they've pushed it back from its initial July 2015 release to July 2016. This means there'll be a gap of five years between it and On Stranger Tides, which is longer than any previous gap in the series. Not advisable. Not considering the current state of the international box office. Not considering the mediocre performance of the last one. Not considering that Johnny Depp will be 53 by then. Not if they want to make a sixth one.
