So yesterday, I made my most recent set of Oscar nominations, and predicted (tentatively, as it always is at this early stage) that Man of Steel, Rush and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty would make up three of the five slots in Oscar's Best Visual Effects category. Well, they won't. They haven't made the shortlist of ten films, which will present at the VFX Branch's famous bake-off for those five available nominations. Here are the ten films which will compete:
- Elysium
- Gravity
- The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
- Iron Man 3
- The Lone Ranger
- Oblivion
- Pacific Rim
- Star Trek Into Darkness
- Thor: The Dark World
- World War Z
