Everybody loves Jessica Lange! And everybody includes the Santa Barbara Film Festival, which has decided to bestow upon the two-time Academy Award winner the 2014 Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence at an event on the 16th of November. SBFF isn't actually interested in giving talented artists well-earned awards - instead, it's all about honouring potential Oscar nominees in order to boost their publicity. Remember last year when they gave this same award to Forest Whitaker when loads of people thought he's be Oscar-nommed for Lee Daniels' The Butler? It appears the organisers expect a nom for Lange in Rupert Wyatt's The Gambler this year.
