The Santa Barbara International Film Festival's Cinema Vanguard award recognises film artits 'who have forged their own path, taking artistic risks and making a significant and unique contribution to film'. SBIFF executive director Roger Durling compared The Theory of Everything's Felicity Jones and Eddie Redmayne to My Left Foot's Daniel Day-Lewis and Brenda Fricker in announcing that the young British actors would be this year's recipients of the honour. They will be presented with the awards at a special ceremony held on the 29th of January, at the 30th edition of the fest, which runs from the 27th of January to the 7th of February 2015.
