The first female-directed film to open the Cannes Film Festival for almost 20 years, Emmanuelle Bercot's Standing Tall (La Tete Haute) kicked off the prestigious fest today to muted praise... for all but one key player. Newcomer Rod Paradot has attracted raves for his lead role in the socio-realist drama, in which he stars opposite vets Catherine Deneuve and Benoit Magimel.
