I suspect Paolo Sorrentino will continue to be a mainstay of the main competition at Cannes until he wins the Palme d'Or... and most likely long thereafter too, if he ever actually does. Will he win it this year? With some formidable competition, word is mixed on his chances: some reviewers rave about his latest, Youth, while others are a little less warm (though never completely cold); similarly, the audience at Cannes reportedly met the film with as many cheers as boos. Most are agreed, however, that Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel are each as good as they have been in many years, no doubt due in no small part to the quality of their roles. Oscar may await, even if the Palme does not.
