Michael Dudok de Wit's new film sure looks special, don't you think? An animated film, with no dialogue in either the trailer or the film itself, it will sadly serve as the final production (for now, at least) to come from Studio Ghibli, who are co-producing. After a Cannes world premiere a week from today, on the 20th of May, The Red Turtle opens in French cinemas on the 29th. It could be a major awards contender, both at Cannes, where it screens in Un Certain Regard, and with year-end voting groups.
