You know how it goes - actually, no, you probably don't. The SOS Critics' Tally relies upon its (unwittingly) participating groups practising discrimination at no point in their awards-giving process in order to qualify for that particular part of our process. And so, the North Carolina Film Critics Association's Best Narrative Film category doesn't quite cut it as a Best Picture category, due to the apparent disqualification of documentaries. Now you know how it goes, yes? Anyway, that appears to be their top award, and all five of its competitors receive six mentions from the NCFCA in the nominations for their 2016 awards. Also doing well, though absent from that category, are The Handmaiden, Hunt for the Wilderpeople and Love & Friendship - all highly deserving. Winners will be announced when I hear about them, k?
