The Kid with a Bike
An eclectic selection from the San Diego critics, who announced their nominees on Sunday. They clearly love Argo, going somewhat against the grain with the critics' groups thus far (is 0D30 losing a little steam at the minute? Or is there nothing to be worried about?). Michelle Williams nabs a surprise Best Actress win, and The Kid with a Bike beats Amour to Best Foreign Language Film. I guess I'm going to have to watch The Perks of Being a Wallflower soon, then, as the critics evidently love it! Interesting that Greig Fraser wins the Body of Work award, which the SDFCS generally give to an actor, when he wasn't nominated for Best Cinematography in any of the five slots for any of his three credited works! A good choice, though.
Nice to see the Dardennes get a little love with that exceptional latest film of theirs! And a reminder that I must see WALLFLOWER! My wife saw it and has been urging me for weeks. So finally some definitive love for ARGO and Affleck. Claudio Miranda deserved that citation for the deeply-moving THE LIFE OF PI. Heck I like Michelle Williams as much as the next person, but no way is she the year's Best Actress. Ah well, to each their own.

I'm gonna see Wallflower soon, what with all this love from critics' groups, although I don't expect to like it half as much as they seem to.
