You never know how many films you're going to get from Brillante Mendoza in a given year. Maybe if he cut down a bit, they might show some around my way. The only review out of Toronto so far comes from Tim Grierson at ScreenDaily, and he has both good and bad things to write about the film. There's a poster below, if you give a shit.
Meanwhile, on the exact other end of the spectrum, Roger Michell's Le Week-End has drawn some of the most positive responses for the British director in his entire career. There's particular parise for leads Jim Broadbent and Lindsay Duncan in reviews from The Telegraph's David Gritten and The Guardian's Catherine Shoard, so it seems to be appealing to people of all political persuasions!
