TORONTO REPORT: NIGHTCRAWLER

The Gilroy clan has taken a fair amount (and I mean that any way you like it) of flak lately, and it's reasonable to expect each new Jake Gyllenhaal-led film to be a flop, so it's no wonder to recognise a hint of pleasant surprise in the good reviews for Nightcrawler at TIFF. Dan Gilroy's film has impressed critics such as Jason Gorber at TwitchFilm, Tomas Hachard at The House Next Door, Jordan Mintzer at The Hollywood Reporter, A. A. Dowd at The A. V. Club, Scott Foundas at Variety, Henry Barnes at The Guardian, Drew McWeeny at HitFix and Michael Cieply at New York Times.
