One could look at the standard of filmmaking in India and wonder why more high-quality internationally viable fare isn't produced; one could look at the number of Indian films sent to festivals such as Cannes and wonder something slightly similar and yet very different indeed. Either way, Gurvinder Singh's The Fourth Direction probably won't make much of a difference. Fairly positive reports up from Cannes critics on this one, but the historical drama isn't quite competing with the fest's biggest hits so far, according to the write-ups featured below.
