There are so many films eligible for Period Art Direction that some had to fall by the wayside - The Tree of Life, War Horse, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, for example. Until now, all three of those had been on my predictions, but the Academy's choices do often differ from the ADG's. Rather like the Golden Globes, there may be more choices here than there will be up for the Oscar, but the Academy could easily choose five period films, some of which might well be amongst those omitted from these choices. Surely Harry Potter has the fantasy category sewn up already, although some deserved winners will have to lose out in order for it to win (which it still will). In contemporary, more nominations (well needed) for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Bridesmaids, and maybe a little tech support for Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and Drive.

Btw, the nominee for Tintin hasn't been announced yet; that's why it's not on here.
