As with their nominations, announced on Boxing Day, it's rather clear that the OFCS love The Tree of Life. Here, it has lost only Best Supporting Actor and Original Screenplay - awards which it wasn't likely to win anyway. As far as critics' groups go, the OFCS obviously represents not only a specific group of critics but a specific style of critics, and the online buzz for The Tree of Life has been fervent throughout the season and the year - indeed, for several years. And, again, as with their nominations, I like their taste. People are likely to pay attention to what the OFCS decide, although how far it'll go in influencing AMPAS members' own tastes is questionable.
