Zero
Dark Thirty
Not a group with which I'm familiar until now, the North Carolina Film Critics Association show little love for Argo, unlike most of the other smaller groups. Despite Zero Dark Thirty apparently not being screened in time for members (yet also apparently being screened in time in the end), it receives a lot of love - as do The Master, Moonrise Kingdom and Silver Linings Playbook. An interesting Supporting Actor lineup, and two separate nominations for Anne Hathaway. Winners on the 15th.
Well, nice surprises.
ReplyDeleteNowhere except here brother. All thanks 2 u.
CHEERS for JACKSON(1ST CRTICS SINCE IMAGE), CLARK(AFTER CHICAGO), WINSTEAD(too late) & HATHWAY (FOR TDKR).
Still no DiCaprio.
No Speilberg, Affleck, Lee Jones is intersting.
Is Stephen Chbosky is sure bet for The Perks of Being a Wallflower in Adapted Screenplay?
What r ur thoughts on Adapted screenplay?
Lincoln and Argo with 2 horse race followed by Silver Linings Playbook and Life Of Pi.
Last place is up fr grabs with the likes of Beasts,Perks and potential shocker Les Miz competing.
Never thought Silver Linings Playbook wud b heralded b4 the start of this season.
Russel m8 b a spoiler if Terrio and Kushner split votes which is far far fm happening.
LIFE OF PI wud jus ve 2 satisy with TECHINAL awards.
'TARHEEL' AWARD?
North Carolina VIEWERS' AWARD.
Campaign,seriously?
1st time ve heard those 2 names.
ZD3O already seen by people?
It seems that the 'Executive Committee' allowed Zero Dark Thirty to be eligible despite the fact that the NCFCA members hadn't even seen it yet. They based it on acclaim, ridiculously. Apparently, it was screened in time for the final vote (for the award), which seems to have already taken place. If it wins nothing, that'll serve them right for including films they haven't seen.
DeleteIs that what the Tarheel award is? Viewers' award? I didn't see any information on it other than the above nominations.
The writers' branch can be hard to predict - they make some surprising choices sometimes, often very good choices actually. It seems that yeah, Argo, Life of Pi, Lincoln and Silver Linings Playbook are all in, and I expect to see Perks take the final slot, although if not Perks, it could go anywhere. Normally, it'd be unusual to see the WGA match with Oscar so closely, although not so unusual in Adapted, and this year there seems to be a smaller slate than normal for both screenplay categories, in terms of likely contenders.
Ohk. Definitely smthn fishy but ZD30 is a gr8 choice.
DeleteNot sure abt TARHEEL brother. But wikipedia says-
Tar Heel (or Tarheel) is a nickname applied to the state and inhabitants of North Carolina as well as the nickname of the University of North Carolina athletic teams, students, alumni, and fans. So assumed 2 b sm kind of viewers' or students' award or smthn.
And agree with ur take on adapted screenplay.
Its 2 late here. And PARDON MY ENGLISH. It stinks.
Expecting DJANGO REVIEW SOON.
2moro OFCS AND vANCOUVER CRITICS.
