Since the chances of a sequel to David Fincher's rottenly underrated The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo were always dependent on the critical + commercial success of that film, I guess Sony didn't quite know what to do when the film seemed to disappoint many and yet actually did very well. Steven Zaillian's script has already been written, and now apparently Andrew Kevin Walker (who wrote Fincher's Se7en) is nearly completed with a rewrite. With Fincher now on Gone Girl and Daniel Craig set to shoot Bond 24 next year, it's unclear whether or not any of this is a sign that the sequel will be in someone else's hands (a la the Swedish films). I hope not. I understand that Fincher has been working hard on getting this sequel going, and he's surely had a rough ride convincing executives that it's a good idea. As long as MGM don't blow another load they don't have on it...
i don't know how rated the stateside dragon tat film was.but surely this wasn't the thing to inspire ultra mania/fandom was it ???

being a sub novice means never having to say you're sorry. ;)
I loved the film. Thought it far superior to the Swedish TV shows cut down for cinema. Critics who loved the Swedish one couldn't cope with the fact that they preferred the big-budget James Bond-starring American one and so declared it a disappointment. Bloggers who saw the film open to around $20 million tore it apart online, claiming that it'd never make $100 million, thus showing their lack of knowledge about seasonal box office figures, as it did indeed make $100m.
