IMAGES FROM JOE, A PROMISE, WORDS AND PICTURES

A bevy of images today. First up is David Gordon Green's second film this year (after Prince Avalanche), Joe, starring Nicolas Cage and a suddenly rather sexy Tye Sheridan (Mud). It's only Sheridan's third film, and the other two were with Terrence Malick and Jeff Nichols. It premieres in Venice on the 30th of August.

Also, some images from Patrice Leconte's A Promise, which is Toronto-headed, and Fred Schepisi's Words and Pictures, starring Juliette Binoche and Clive Owen, which is too. Schepisi may have directed Meryl Streep to one of her best performances in A Cry in the Dark, but he also made the odious The Eye of the Storm, so that's that.

The rest of the images are after the jump, if you're on the main page. If you're not, they're down there.

English subtitled trailer is bound to take it's time even with it's TIFF premiere. Nonetheless, this footage looks vividly great. Gay, Anti-gay stuff aside, there seems to be genuinely enchanting drama tapped in by Kechiche. Can we hope for any sort of acting awards-season push from Sundance Selects if not Oscars for the two leads? They are killing onscreen, literally too. There's gonna be a long wait.

    1. Thanks for that!

I hope they campaign the shit out of this. And I hope they don't cut it for an R rating. And I hope it gets some motherfucking Oscar nominations.
