OBIT - ELMORE LEONARD


At 7.15 this morning, writer Elmore Leonard died at the age of 87. He died at his home in Detroit, having suffered a stroke earlier this month. He was in the process of writing his 46th book. The popular novelist, who initially wrote westerns, began writing crime fiction in the 1960s, and has since been one of the world's most popular living writers. Among his stories adapted for the screen are 3:10 to Yuma, Out of Sight, Jackie Brown and Get Shorty, and he received a USC nomination for the 1995 film.
