Chinese pop star turned actor Juno Mak's debut film as director is Rigor Mortis, a homage to the 1980s horror movies of his homeland. having hit up Venice and Toronto's Midnight Madness selection a few weeks back, it's headed LFF's way later this month, and it's one of the 18 films I'll be catching while in London. The film is set in a public housing block in Hong Kong, which some of the residents have blighted by opening up a connection to the world of the dead. This'll be far from the most highbrow experience I have at the festival, but it has a fair shot at being the most entertaining, as the stylish trailer below (always good to have a non-English language trailer that admits it's not in English!) suggests it could be.

What can you say about the period adaptations. No comment. But Fieness is damn fine actor.
Curious to know your thoughts on Fieness' directorial debut feature Coriolanus?
Am in the extreme minority of liking it even if it was little too much and all over the place.
Coriolanus was alright. I was kind of neither here nor there about it, you know. Vanessa Redgrave was magnificent, though.
DeleteMore period flicks... meh. I'm all for them as long as they're good.
Thanks for the tip!
Oh. K. Thanks.
