It barely edged $100 million at the domestic box office, never expanding above seven theatres and never rising above #59 in the chart. It mustered up a Metascore and a RT rating alike of 42, with not a single rating on Metacritic as enthusiastic as my own, and two (from Jordan Hoffman and Nick Shager) rating the film a 20. And its IMDb score is a paltry 5.8. Well screw you world, cos Craig Zisk's theatrical debut, The English Teacher, starring Julianne Moore is a rly funny, enjoyable film with a winning cast and a memorable script. It's thoroughly formulaic, but also delightfully so, since the humour is so adroitly-written and so smartly acted, particularly by Ms. Moore, as expected. Don't believe the anti-hype. See The English Teacher with an open mind and a willingness to have fun, and you might be one of the first to like it just as much as I did.
