HER, CAPTAIN PHILLIPS, STORIES WE TELL WIN AT WGA

American Hustle's chances at winning any Oscars at all are beginning to fade, as Her wins the Original Screenplay award from the Writers Guild of America, putting it out of frontrunner status for all ten of its Oscar nominations. With no 12 Years a Slave in competition, that left the game open for the other Adapted Screenplay nominees here, and the WGA made the big mistake of choosing Captain Phillips, which wasn't a very well-written film, but oh well. And Sarah Polley's Stories We Tell deservedly wins the Documentary Screenplay award.

Best Original Screenplay
Spike Jonze (Her)

Best Adapted Screenplay
Billy Ray; based on the book 'A Captain's Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALS and Dangerous Days at Sea' by Richard Phillips and Stephan Talty (Captain Phillips)

Best Documentary Screenplay
Sarah Polley (Stories We Tell)
