Em, so a film I hadn't even heard of prior to release has now topped the domestic box office for three straight weekends. Ride Along achieves the not-particularly-remarkable feat of winning the Super Bowl weekend with $12 million, and with $100 million now in sight, a sequel has been announced. With the addition of a sing-along version, Frozen dipped just 2% from last weekend, and climbed to second place, enough to top this weekend's highest new entry, That Awkward Moment. And it certainly was an awkward moment for Focus Features, now essentially FilmDistrict remodelled, as their first film in their new guise made a mere $8.7 million over its first three days, marking the lowest wide debut for a Zac Efron feature to date. It fared better than Jason Reitmam's Labour Day, which managed just $5.2 million. In limited release, Tim's Vermeer had a fine opening in 45th position, but the 2014 Oscar-nominated short films wasn't quite as successful, starting in 24th, with $3,138 a per-theatre average.
