Academy Award winning actor, writer and director Maximilian Schell died yesterday, the 1st of February 2014, at age 83, after suffering complications from pneumonia. The respected German film star, who also won a Golden Globe and two New York Film Critics Circle awards in his life, was best known for his Oscar-winning role in Judgement at Nuremberg. He was also known as an accomplished stage actor, though starred in several TV productions alongside his 64 film credits as an actor, which began with a small role in the Golden Globe winning film Sons, Mothers and a General in 1955, and which will conclude with the upcoming Les Brigands. He is survived by his widow, Iva, and his daughter, Nastassja.
