OBIT - SHIRLEY TEMPLE

One of cinema's most iconic stars through all of film history, screen performer Shirley Temple Black died yesterday, the 10th of February 2014, at her California home. She was 85. Her screen debut came at a mere four years of age; by six, she was a star of such popularity that she was bestowed a special Juvenile Oscar for outstanding contribution to screen entertainment during the year 1934. As she matured, she found herself dropped by studios and agencies alike, and after her divorce from her first husband, John Agar, fell out of the industry entirely. A career in politics followed, and she had two children from her second marriage, to TV executive Charles Black, whom she was with until his death in 2005.
