This clip from debut filmmaker Vivian Qu's Trap Street is a superb demonstration of understated tension, achieved via naturalistic lighting, sensitive acting and the old standard of the long follow-shot. The film premiered last September at Venice, and has made a plethora of festival appearances since then, but won't receive its first theatrical release anywhere in the world until June, when it will open in France. The French get all the best international releases before the rest of us. Harumph!
